Logo Design Brief

I need a logo designed for an organization of officials (referees, umpires, judges, timers, etc.) that will be united in praying for sports competitions around the world. My initial thoughts are about the logo including one of those inverted teardrop symbols that many times marks "you are here" on a map. It might also include a heart and/or cross symbol but none of these symbol ideas are requirements as the logo should have universal application. I would like to see some designs that use the color red although I am open to other colors as well. I feel like the simpler the design is, the better.
