Icon Design Brief
We need a new icon for our iOS/Android app "Simple Weight".
"Simple Weight" is a weight recording app for iOS and Android.
The first version was released in Feb 2011, and it's been downloaded over 5 million times worldwide, mostly in Japan, China, Taiwan, and South Korea.
It was awarded as "App Store Rewind 2011" by Apple in the Korean App Store.
It's also well known as "the bear's diet app" after the bear character in the icon and in the app.

[Background]
The current app icon was designed in 2011, and we've been using the same basic design for the last 7 years. Many of the long term users still love it, but apparently the design trend has been changed a lot in the past 7 years and now we think it's time to move on to completely new design to catch up with the modern design trend and attract more new users.
[Requirements]
The icon must:
- be Simple, Modern, and Friendly
- represent what it is and what it does at a glance
- contain the symbolized bear character in somewhere. More abstract shape may match the modern app icon design.
The final output size & format of the icon will be:
- opaque (NON-alpha) PNG format
- used in 1024x1024 ~ 16x16 pixels (we will resize the icon image, but the design must look good in both large size (e.g. 1024x1024) and small size (e.g. 16x16).
- tolerant to the corner rounding; it could be rounded by iOS or Android OS (and the corner radius depends on the OS version)
We'll use the same single icon for both iOS and Android app.
[Tips to Win the Competition]
To win the competition, please take 2 minutes to go through the attached image before start working on the design to understand the history of the app, and what the app does and how it works. The icon design must be descended from the history so that the users can know it's the same app as they've been using, even after the icon design change.
It is also important to know the design trend for the modern mobile apps. It will be great if you are familiar with the design guidelines of each platform.

Updates
Hello everyone!
Thank you very much for your participation for my App Icon design project. I've updated the attached description file to clarify what is expected to modernize the app icon.
I've also added some example icons that I drew by myself. I'm not a designer, and I really hope that I don't restrict your imagination, but I hope that these could be a clue to be on the right track. Again, I'm not a designer, so I want you to go far beyond these examples!
Thank you very much again for your help!
