I practice the Co-Active model of Coaching, which is rooted in the premise that people are naturally creative, resourceful and whole, and completely capable of finding their own answers to whatever challenges they face.
The job of a Co-Active Coach – my job – is to ask powerful questions, listen and empower to elicit the skills and creativity a client already possesses, rather than instruct or advise. Someone to see the whole individual, not just a series of problems. A champion.
Right now, I am at the ideation stage for my new coaching practice, and looking for a compelling, professional logo to support my visualization process. Having the logo "in hand" will anchor the visualization exercise and help bring the vision into reality.
If you plan to use any sort of visual imagery to support the logo, you might want to think about the word Maelstrom.
Perhaps the most common understanding of the word maelstrom is: a powerful whirlpool in a sea or river. However, from a coaching perspective, I really like the other interpretation of maelstrom:
Maelstrom
- a situation or state of confused movement or violent turmoil.
- a restless, disordered, or tumultuous state of affairs.
People are often experiencing this first hand, living in a maelstrom. People are restless, confused.... lost. Life feels disordered and tumultuous, which can leave lead to anxiety and depression, anger and fear.
My vision for Maelstrom Coaching is to bring calm and order to people's lives. To help them be curious as to what's possible. To see things differently. To unlock and amplify their resourcefulness. To be a champion for them.
Anyway, hopefully that's enough to get the creative juices flowing!
