Logo Design Brief

Need a logo for a local running race. The Bayou Bucket is an american football game that takes place between two local universities once a year. This year we are having a 5K running race the morning before the game. Looking for something that highlights the nature of the game but also shows that this is a running event. It needs to be able to look good on both a medal and a t-shirt. Would like to have an image of an american football in the logo.
