Logo Design Brief

We require a logo for our organisation, Litter Free World Foundation. Our goal is to create a litter free world for us and future generations. We do this in three ways - reducing the amount of disposable packaging and waste we produce; responsibly disposing of waste that we do produce (recycling everything that can be recycled and ensuring no waste is allowed to roam free); and by removing waste and litter from our streets, our countryside, and our beaches. Over 8 million tons of plastic waste enters our oceans every year and it is responsible for the deaths of millions of sea creatures and birds who ingest plastic in the belief that it is food - we strive to remove as much as we can and also seek to prevent as much entering in the first place.

We would like designs that don't just incorporate our name - in other words we want some graphic representation that ultimately people will recognise as being us without having to see the words Litter Free World or litterfreeworld.org (our website - early days as we only started a couple of weeks ago). A bit like people can see a white tick and know it is nike (however please read below carefully).

Designs that purely use text only are not what we are looking for, we actually want an image as the main focus of the logo. In saying that it is important that the image is not too abstract (so an image that has no link to a litter free world is not what we want. That nike tick has become associated with them over many years but it's just a weird tick and in the early days I imagine thousands of people thought wtf is that tick all about?).

In terms of colour we think we probably veer towards green. Psychologically it is a colour that matches with ecological concerns and also it is the colour of beautiful litter free countryside. Touches of blue and brown would also be good if they blend well.

Must have

• Must have an image. Please do not just use text.

Nice to have

• It might be nice to have an image that includes some of the things that would benefit from a litter free world; for example sea turtles, sea birds, seals, dolphins etc would no longer ingest plastics and die.

Should not have

• Try to shy away from the typical image of someone dropping litter into a dustbin.
• Please do not make the image too abstract. A weird shape that has nothing to do with a litter free world is just a weird shape.
