T-shirt Design Brief

What is BJJ:
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a sport that teaches a smaller person how to defend him or
herself against a larger adversary by using leverage and proper technique. It is
mostly a ground sport and the live drills are often referred to as “rolling”.
It has a ranking system of belts (white, blue, purple, brown, black and red)
For every move there is a counter move and it can be very strategic.
The process is often referred to as Transition – Position - Submission
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a lifestyle that embodies the desire to stay healthy and the
passion to train your body, mind and spirit to become the best of your self.
It is all about Respect for the sport, yourself and others
Triangles are often used in graphics that represent BJJ to designate a good base in
the sport but also in life.
Who we are:
We have recently opened a BJJ dojo and are starting to create many pieces for the
brand. The name is Elite Force BJJ and an image of the logo is attached. Our dojo
has the honor of having a 4 th degree black belt instructor with several world titles to
his credit who is amazing, fun and a great instructor. Our dojo is about BJJ values,
respect for others, learning strong technique, having fun and family oriented
(available for everyone). We have students training ranging in age from 7 to 60

(male and female).The T-shirt project is our first. We are in the process of looking for a good quality T-shirt and we would like to create graphics that are of a higher quality than most ofthe BJJ shirts you can find.
The graphics need to be not only strong from a design perspective but clever or
meaningful as well. There are many opportunities for this in BJJ as it is a very
strategic sport and every move you learn can be applied from many different
positions or angles. Almost any move while you are on top can be applied from the
bottom and visa versa.
The design elements most often referenced when creating something to do with BJJ
are the belts and their colors, the names of many of the moves, the hard work
required
All T-shirts must have our logo AND/OR the words Elite Force BJJ somewhere on the shirt.
T-shirt designs can be front only, back only or front and back
