Logo Design Brief
UncoverY is a boutique consumer consultancy.
The word UncoverY was inspired from a combination of 'Discovery' and 'Uncover Why', as we delve into the 'whys' of consumers, markets and brands behaviours, and discover new insights, using the existing data and knowledge from within the organisation as well as data and knowledge that already exists, outside. This is what makes us unique - we do not use any new market research, we maximize our clients' existing data investments and, because we integrate multiple different data sources studying the same consumer or market, we come up with newer, deeper and more unique insights than standard market research or analytics. Additionally, we are proudly 'boutique' & believers in being non-corporate. We do things differently from big corporates - we dress down, we are informal, we use simple, direct, no-jargon language.
Our clients are Procter and Gamble, Unilever, Johnson and Johnson, Coke, Standard Chartered Bank, Inter-Continental Hotels, Hilton, etc. We work in the space of knowledge, data, consumer behaviour, marketing and brands.

Requirements
Must have
- The logo design should
- 1) reflect that we are a 'boutique' consultancy, not a regular, big corporate; hence, I expect to have fonts and colours that are not usual in corporate logos today
- 2) be modern, with modern, vibrant colours & fonts, and, preferably, an usual colour palette
- 3) be simple and uncomplicated (no distracting, complicated fonts or visuals)
- 4) be meaningful and reflect that we play in the field of knowledge, the aspect of 'discovery' and/or 'uncovering the why' i.e. it should reflect, in some way, the genesis of the name
- The logo should be modern, premium, with eye-catching colours, a little bold, a little playful/ cheeky and a little feminine.
Nice to have
- I would like the logo to be based on typography only, and/or a play on the letters, but am open to an icon if it makes the logo more meaningful.
- The couple of designs that I liked were 1) a great play on the name, using just typography (but was not able to get the font & colour palette right, and 2) a unique font & nice colour palette, but a design that was completely not reflective of the company identity.
Should not have
- The logo should not
- 1) Be traditional, old-fashioned, corporate, or have the usual colour palettes
- 2) Be complicated or too busy
- Most of the designs submitted so far do not reflect the must-have point 4 above - the work we do, the genesis of the name, the element of Discovery or Uncovering or asking Why -and neither did they have an eye catching font or colour palette. Because of which the designs or the fonts look very generic. For a few, I found them either very old-fashioned - traditional fonts, colours, designs or extremely large corporate types (completely not suited for a boutique company).
