Logo Design Brief
Street Corner Symphony, runners-up from season 2 of NBC's The Sing-Off, are a professional a cappella group based in Nashville TN. We travel the country performing both public and private shows of contemporary a cappella in a range of genres (from pop and rock to gospel and barbershop).
We are looking for a logo design that can be used by the group on our website (http://www.streetcornersymphony.org) and merchandise (album covers, t-shirts, mugs, mousepads, etc.). The group is known for its idea of "unpracticing," which is a lack of organized rehearsals, but rather practicing while having fun with each other. The group is very laid-back and easy-going, while still creating a polished, professional product.
Ultimately, an effective logo for SCS will show both the relaxed and easy-going side of the group with the professional and corporate nature in which its business is run. It will be versatile: something that can be used from letterheads in the office to merchandise at performances.
We ask that designers take time to familiarize themselves with the group, so as to get a feel for the overall approach to music and business that SCS embodies. Links to videos of performances can be found on the website given above, as can information about the group and its members.

Must have
- In terms of the design itself, there is only one qualification:
The logo must contain "Street Corner Symphony" (three words, *NOT* two words), and it must be able to be abbreviated to "SCS" without losing the character or integrity of the logo.
We are open to all ideas involving images or illustrations to accompany the text.
Should not have
- Instruments are not acceptable (e.g. violins, trumpets, etc.). We are an a cappella group; that means only our voices.
Cartoonish use of script fonts are not acceptable. We are looking for something that can be easily linked in our fans' minds to our group and company, not just a pretty setting of the company/group name. If you have an idea for script that would be an iconic, new usage (such as the unique script that Coca-cola had created), please feel free to submit it, but generic and common script settings with a little color thrown in aren't what we're looking for.
