T-shirt Design Brief
We are after 1 design and 2 slights variations (If only you accept) for our yearly Vanuatu DJ Festival 2017 Tee-Shirt, below are the details and requirements.
First a word of warning, no cut and paste style of design, as this is what we have gotten recently from another site, and we had to cancel and wasted a lot of time.
The designs must be of very high quality to transfer to Tee-Shirt, so we are expecting high resolution and big source files.
The designs will be available in black on transparent background and white in transparent background, and we should be able to easily change them to any colours and background colours, so all in all we should end up with 2 variations (If only you accept) and the mentioned two colours for a total of 4 sources files that can be manipulated in Photoshop. We give you 2 examples of what we have had done in 2016 just for illustration (Not to copy) , and pretty much the word “Vanuatu” has to be written with the same font that we will be attaching, these files are:
- Last Year Example (1).jpg
- Last Year Example (2).jpg
- VANUATU.ttf
The design must use tribal art work patterns from the Melanesian culture, because Vanuatu does not have many patterns, you can borrow from the Fijian or Solomon Islands culture. For this purpose we are attaching the following files for you to have as reference (Again not to copy straight from the image), but you can also Google for more patterns, these will give you enough to come up with something in any case:
- Fijian Melanesian Patterns.jpg
- Patterns.jpg
- Pig tusk formation that can be used as a pattern.jpg
- Triangular pattern around the heads of the statues.jpg
Now the design will consist mainly of a Technics SL1200 Mk2 or SL1210Mk2 turntable (The difference between the 1200 and the 1210 is mainly that one is Silver and the other one is Black, all the other physical features are the same). For this purpose we are attaching the following files and explanation to come below as what is required:
- Example.JPG
- Logo white in the middle.jpg
- Technics SL1200-mk2 Detailed.jpg
- Technics SL1200-mk2.jpg
- Technics SL1210-mk2 Playing.jpg
- Technics SL1210-mk2.jpg
- Vanuatu Flag.gif
- Turntable platter pattern.jpg
In essence what you will be doing is drawing a Technics SL1200mk2 with the Melanesian patterns as discussed above, for all the outlines of the turntable, we have provided the Example.JPG as a mock-up, and yes it is a very crappy mock-up so that is why we need your services. Now few things that need attention, you are designing a top view version, so pretty much a rectangular form, we do not need the hinges of the turntable, but we do need the little adaptor that is missing in one of the picture (Technics SL1200-mk2.jpg). The tone arm support does not need to be as detailed and is the only complicated bit but however you can use patterns to fill it up, the rest as you can see are only circles and rectangles, that you have to “patternize” (Including the tone arm). As you can see we used the pig tusk as on the Vanuatu Flag.gif for the vinyl platter which will need to be “patternized” (Inside the outline of the tusk you can use a similar pattern to the image: Turntable platter pattern.jpg) and also you need to position the tusk the same way as on the Vanuatu Flag.gif, the tone arm support can also be a mini tusk form as the Example.JPG shows. On the platter goes the logo, as big as you can get it proportionally, you will find the logo in the middle of the circle on image: Logo white in the middle.jpg, it is a sign that looks like a “W”, you can either have pattern within the logo, depending on what looks better to your opinion. Now the variation between the 2 designs, is the tone arm, on one design it is rested as if the turntable is not playing, and the second design the tone arm will be actually on the platter, as if it was playing a record, I provided an image that has the turntable playing so you can see the position of the tone arm. The Tee-Shirt sold to the crowd will show the turntable tone arm not playing, and the Tee-Shirt provided to the DJs will show the tone arm playing, that is the only variation that is asked (And if it not possible and accepted by you, then, we will consider then only the “un- playing” position. On top pretty much like the design of last year, you will have “Vanuatu” written with the same font, and below the turntable you will have DJ FESTIVAL 2017, and this you may come up with your own font and we will ask you to supply this font to us as well if possible in case we need to use it for further writings. That is it, if you have any questions, I will answer them as soon as I can. Thank you.
