Logo Design Brief
We need a logo design for a new web based vendor specializing in high quality framed fabric push pin boards. We are based in Nashville, Tn and for now we are focusing on selling our products through Etsy but considering expanding to our own website. Overall we want to see a design which establishes a sense of quality craftsmanship while also paying homage to our southern/middle Tennessee roots. We are open to anything really, however, we want the logo to be versatile, something classy yet simple and capable of looking good on a website or letterhead.
Updates
Dear Designers,
I've been speaking with my co-owners and we all agree that we really like the idea of utilizing some kind of mascot type emblem which can be transferred to other projects and company offshoots as they come along. The mascot that comes to mind for all of us is one of my partners Golden Doodle, Buddy. Toying with this idea we would like to see a mascot type emblem which can be paired with the southern board co. text or stand alone by itself. We love this picture that we found on google: http://www.superstock.com/stock-photos-images/662-1840A
We would like the dog in the image to be sitting and facing forward or left/right. We want to see the curls/shagginess. We are very interested in this concept and would love to see some submissions that include it. Though we are open to other ideas and concepts for a logo for the southern board company and have seen some pretty impressive ones so far that we are thrilled with!

Target Market(s)
We want this to be a product for all age groups. People wanting to class up their office depot cork board above their desk in order to dress up their office for instance. We also believe younger audiences will be attracted to our product as well, such as students moving into dorm rooms.

Nice to have
- Overall we like some of the logo branding that start up companies such as Southern Proper and Southern Marsh have utilized. We realize we won't be slapping our logo on a thousand T-shirts or Polo's but we want it to be unique, simple and resizable enough that we could. We love etching designs and are open to classic emblem conventions such as adopting some type of mascot or utilizing a monogram.
We really like the designs on this stationary: http://www.pagestationery.com/dog-hunter-mallard.html It's slightly masculine, but not overpowering which is something we love because the masculinity balances out what some may consider to be a feminine product. We like classic and somewhat neutral colors though we are open to anything that isn't too flashy.
Should not have
- Though pushpin boards is our product we do not want that to be included in our logo. Instead we would rather have something symbolic of our mission and values (providing a high quality craftsmanship item produced in the American South). We also don't want the name of the company to be the main focal point of the logo. Too plain of text is also not a good idea, however, something too flashy or unreadable is also not acceptable.
