Logo Design Brief

We need a logo for our film, Columbus Avenue Boys. Here's a bit about the film which has been compared to the Godfather because it captures the old world mafia of Lucky Luciano and Bugsy Siegel during the prohibition era, with the modern, John Gotti reign of the 90’s organized crime. Summary of the film:

Columbus Avenue Boys chronicles the Scalamarri family tree through the lens of its three protagonists, Chris, Sal and Tony who are The Columbus Avenue Boys. Blood brothers who grew up in a small Italian/Irish community just north of New York City.

The novel turned screenplay masterfully weaves the epic family saga between two time lines, the 1930’s and the 1990’s. The historical perspective of the lives and struggles of an Italian immigrant family as they work, live and ultimately try to untangle themselves from the world of America's organized crime grabs you immediately from the start and takes you on an intense ride right up to the last page.

The story’s patriarch is Tony's grandfather, Pops Scala, who tells the boys a shocking and horrific secret from the Scalamarri family's past: twelve members of their family were massacred (and a big fire ensued) at the hands of Bugsy Siegel and his ruthless gang, Murder Inc., in 1935 and Pops was the sole witness and lone survivor. This secret is the underlying motivation that propels The Columbus Avenue Boys to devise a plan to infiltrate the inner workings of the 1990’s Mafia to avenge the massacre in their family tree and free themselves from the underworld life for good because no one can give two weeks' notice to the Gambino crime family.

Must have

• We want to keep the look and feel of the Columbus Avenue street sign in the logo – we want the word Boys to convey a strong bond between the 3 guys or an overall sense of family togetherness.
• An example would be the Logo for The Soprano’s HBO show used a gun instead of R - but we don’t want to use a gun and we don’t want the word BOYS to look like graffiti – The final design should convey an element or style that conveys mafia as well the strength of a family bond.
• We are looking for a logo that can be used for business purposes like letterhead, investment packages, social media – we will require file sizes that can be used for all purposes.
