Hello, I think your current logo is actually pretty good and 3D would only weaken it (because then it doesn't stay consistent on your website, businesscards and maybe monochrome job ads or whatever.
If I were to make suggestions for improvements it would be: Make the mark symmetrical and  finetune the text, but it works as it is now.
For a completely new approach, I believe the designers would need to know more about why you`re dissatisfied with your current one.

i agree i think if you change logo and go with a 3d will throw off the theme of your site. your current one looks good as is.  and not to mention your prize is pretty low for a 3d logo.   I think your to close to the project and need an outsiders opinion.. in which case, keep your current logo for now, or up the prize :-D
