Logo Design Brief

Our company exists to enable the father of a child to “be the best dad you can be.” We offer a members-only website to connect like-minded dads together as well as give them the tools they seek to best manage their finite time so they can spend more quality time with their children.

The mascot of our company is the Penguin. The penguin is the “king” of fatherly child rearing in the animal kingdom, with multiple examples of how the father penguin stays behind to care for the egg while the mother heads out to seek food. This idea of ultimate devotion to their young typifies our target audience.

We desire an image of a father penguin caring for an egg or young penguin to be the logo. The designer is, however, free to implement a design that only has the father penguin if you feel that this is the best representation.

One concept that we thought of: A side view of the father penguin with his head looking down towards his child penguin, with the child penguin facing his father, head looking up, with the child penguin close to the father penguin to symbolize that he is being "nurtured" by the father. Requirements

Must have

• Our first choice is a single color logo. The color choice is blue with an RGB code of 67 74 169. The designer has the freedom to implement a second complementary color, orange, with an RGB code of either 178 141 0 or 255 202 0. However, if the designer chooses to implement a dual color scheme, the logo must still be useable in monochrome instances.
  
  Please ensure the image format is 2D vector, and that the logo is scalable to be small enough to fit onto a business card and large enough to fit onto a tradeshow booth.
  
  We are requesting two variants of the logo: flat, black-and-white, and image only. The flat version will use the one or two colors decided upon by the designer. The black-and-white version shall be a grey-scale version.

Nice to have

• The designer is free to pick the specific variant of the Penguin with sufficient artistic freedom to decide how to best implement the penguin father and egg/child (surreal, real, abstract, etc).
  
  Designer has the freedom to decide spacing, location, orientation of penguin image to company name.
  
  As best as possible, the logo aspect ratio should either be wide or square, but not tall. If the aspect ratio is wide, we desire no greater than a 2:1 aspect ratio.
  
  Designer is free to suggest / use any font, subject to the requirement that it be royalty-free.
  
  Please be cognizant of the target audience, i.e. fathers, therefore the font should tend towards sharp, clean, minimalistic, and bold.
  
  If possible, it would be nice to allow the Penguin imagery to be separatable from the text in the logo.
