BACKGROUND: The Pacific Resilience Programme (PREP) Programme Support Unit (PSU) currently serve a number of Pacific Island Countries (PICs). One of the core development challenges for Pacific Island Countries and Territories are disasters, excessive climate and weather changes which obviously impact the social and economic development. It is in this context that the fundamental role of PREP PSU is to provide technical, fiduciary and monitoring and evaluation support for the implementation of both regional activities and country projects with its participating countries as a way to respond to these challenges.
Depiction on logo as follows :
YES TO:
* Definitely a Pacific flavour
* Depiction of "partnerships"
* Have Pacific tapa-type patterns (look at Fiji, Tonga & Samoa).....also consider Pacific tattoo motifs/designs (look at Polynesian (Tonga/Samoa) & Melanesian (Fiji) types of tattoos. Also look at tattoos from Micronesia (Republic of Marshall Islands) - depiction of 3 types of tapa and/or tattoos would be conducive to what we're trying to reflect as PREP representing different PICs within the three distcint sub-regions of the Pacific ie Polynesia, Micronesia & Melanesia.
* A suggestion - perhaps a frigate/bird - one that weathers storms depicting resilience/strength....or something similar?
NO to :
• Does not necessarily have to have a “disaster” theme or depiction
• No coconut trees
• No mountains
• No “holding hands” as in community?
LOGO cannot be too long as logo will also be used on banners, embroided on t-shirt/polo shirts etc. Colour psychology....is red considered too strong/bold?
