Logo Design Brief
Project: Logo and Label design for home and office delivered bottled water brand. Five gallon and 3 gallon returnable bottle label and 16.9 oz. wrap around label.
Brand Profile: Brand name is “Heritage”. Locally sourced and distributed natural spring water sold in the Mid-Atlantic region. This area encompasses Washington District of Columbia (DC), Maryland(MD) and Virginia(VA) (including W. Virginia) markets.
Brand is distributed primarily to Home and Office consumers in 5 gallon returnable bottles. Label may eventually be adapted for single serving sizes.
Branding is directed at capturing the locally sourced movement in food and beverages. Tapping into the sense of pride associated with home-grown brands. Should communicate hip, current, and relevant. As well as product attributes of trusted, pure, and healthy. Additional consideration of pride and patriotism.
Design Direction: Imagery and design should convey boldness and local pride. Inspiration from the District of Columbia stars and bars logo maybe helpful. (Virginia and Maryland state symbolism may be incorporated as well, but not necessary to represent each location in the design). Powerful sense of provincial and subtle American patriotism combined with hipness and vibe of local recognition

Consumer & Demographics: Available to a broad population base in the Mid-Atlantic region centered in District of Columbia and outer beltway, with most of Maryland and metro Baltimore to the north, and northern Virginia to the south. Race, gender & income neutral (bottled water purchasers skew slightly female). Age range is 24 to 50. This is a mass consumer, mid-level priced brand.
Competition & Pricing: Competes with major bottled water delivery services in the area including Nestle brands; Nestle Pure Life and Deer Park, and Crystal Springs. (These brands may be known in other markets as Poland Springs, Ozarka, Ice Mountain, Zephyr Hills, Alhambra, Belmont Springs, Hinckley Springs, Kentwood Springs, Sparkletts). Mass market priced between $7-$10 for 5-gallon returnable bottle. Our product is a single-source “Natural Spring Water”. Many other brands are labeled “Drinking Water”; meaning their water is from a municipal source that is filtered or “purified” before bottling. Natural Spring Water is preferable point of distinction and should be included.
