Illustration Design Brief

Update Nov 9, 2013: My wording "Lamborghini-ize it" confused a lot of people. What I meant is that my imagination goes only as far as a square box and I would like to see it "cool and sexy" like a Lamborghini with curved lines, etc.. Whatever the end design is, it has to be "produce-able" either by form or injection molded and "functional" (must be able to load the business cards) I have some included pictures of a pusher spring as well as some of my "napkin scribbles". Thanks - Greg Kelley =======================================================
This is a business card dispenser box that will sit on desks (so it needs a small footprint). The cards will be pushed forward with a coil spring (think pill boxes in the pharmacy department at Walmart). There needs to be an angled ledge right above the cards in which a normal 2.0 x 3.5 business card will rest. Also, on top there needs to be an indention for 3 x 3 Post-It-Notes to rest. I have a basic design of this "box" (attached) that needs to be re-visualized into an aesthetically inviting concept ("Lamborghini-ized") that is functional and ready to get quotes from moulding companies. Your imagination is encouraged as this needs to look nice sitting on a desk. This box will be both clear and painted acrylic and will have smooth streamlined lines (as opposed to the box like image in the attached drawing). The finished product will need be capable of a 3D rotational view. Having access to a 3-D printer to make a model sample is a plus. The "Must Haves" are: 1) Room inside the box for 400 business cards (2.0" tall x 3.5" wide x 5.5" long) 2) A track for the coil spring to push the cards (look at a "Walmart pusher") 3) Cards are dispensed from the front so there is a barrier holding the cards yet allowing to pull one card from the front (see picture). 4) An angled tray directly above the dispensed cards in which one card can rest. 5) An indention on top (not pictured) that will hold 3" x 3" Post-It-Notes, The indention will be 3/8" deep. Please quote with what your deliverables are, and if it includes a 3-D working model. Please contact me with any questions.

Updates

Just an update....

At this point I've decided to work only on the creative side before digging into the mechanical side. I've received several ideas that have expanded my imagination as to what the finished dispenser box could look like and am processing that.

I hope to be moving forward as soon as possible.

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: I am taking a week-long trip and won't have the time to choose final design until I return. - Greg Kelley
Added Saturday, November 09, 2013

Dear Designers,

Sorry for the long delay ingetting back with you.  I've had a little health problem (includingsurgery) that kind of set this project on the back burner, but I'm healthy andback in full-force and working 100% on this project.

I will award a winner very soon.  For those of you who took the time to submit a design but I am not selecting, I would like to send you a "small something" for your trouble.  I am not sure how to do this so I am hoping some of you can tell me how I would do this.

Thanks.

HappyNew Year,
