Logo Design Brief

I am creating a consultancy which is focused around assisting Australian companies looking to do business in Asia (mainly Japan and China). The focus will be assisting design strategy, help companies understand how to start exporting to Asia (but also the world), assisting companies how to use Government in their business expansion into Asia and assisting government design strategy in how they can assist companies expand into Asia. At times, strategic support will be offered to Asian governments (mainly Japan) work in Australia to attract more Australian companies to consider Japan for new business. Clients are mid-sized business, local well known brands, government departments and government Ministers. The consultancy name is Laneway Consulting - named so as lane way is like a pathway to new business and a way to enter Asia but also since I am based in Melbourne which is famous for its lane ways - there is a second meaning (google Melbourne lane way for images) I am looking for a logo that is smart, sharp, trust worthy but also hip. I have always worked for big firms but in creating a boutique firm I am keen to create a logo that looks very professional.
