Logo Design Brief

We are looking for a update to the logo for our Japanese quick service restaurant in Austin, TX. We serve rice bowls with a choice of proteins on top, catering mainly to a college crowd. We began in a food truck that we put together ourselves, and have recently moved into a restaurant, which has white walls with colorful murals and has a trendy, modern vibe. We would like a logo that reflects that feeling, in a clean and modern manner, while still slightly echoing our homegrown origins. Our food is served in a black takeout box that has become iconic to our customers as a symbol of the brand, so perhaps this could be integrated into the logo. Japanese-inspired elements are also an option. Our old logo contains the Japanese character for Don, the name of our restaurant (short for donburi, meaning rice bowl in Japanese). The character could be used again but we would like a refreshed modern take on it.
