Logo Design Brief

We need a logo for the Apache Samza open source project. Samza is a distributed stream processing framework ( http://samza.apache.org/ ).

It takes data messages from a stream of data and process them. It can modify them, transform them, augment and/or filter them. It can also join (or split) multiple message streams.

Some people see Stream Processing as it sounds, dealing with streams (imagery, a watermill), others think of transformation (butterflies), others think of an assembly line.

Current "logo" is just the word Samza (all lower case) in the Ropa Sans font; white on red background. I like the font but we're not tied to it.

Requirements

Must have

• We are looking for a simple logo to represent the Apache open source project. We would like a color logo (2-4 colors) with a black and white version.
• We would like the logo to be more than just a font for the word Samza. For example, a water will, or a trail of dots. It's also possible for the logo to have some icon built into it, like the word A into an distinguishable triangle, etc.

Nice to have

• Currently looking for red color

Should not have

• We're not looking for a Wordmark.
