Illustration Design Brief

Overview:
Design an illustration for a 4-piece dinnerware set that will include a dinner plate, salad plate, bowl, and mug. Each of the four place settings will have its own design but stay within the same theme.

The theme of this design is sea life.

The aim of this dinnerware set is to be whimsical and fun. Someone could use this set for outdoor entertaining as well as for everyday use in summer and warmer climates.

Sea life encompasses many elements...sea turtles, fish, octopus, coral, whales, sea horse, starfish, etc. The designer may choose which elements to feature keeping in mind that each place setting should remain related while featuring a different "character." One example could be a starfish, sea horse, crab, and sea turtle.

Style and color:
Illustration style should lean towards realistic and less cartoon-like.
No specifications on colors used. However, designer should keep colors within a color family of closely related colors such as blue/green/aqua/teal/yellow.

The canvas example uploaded is to help visualize the surface area for the dinnerware. The top rectangle will be for the mug, the two circles for the plates and the bottom rectangle for the outside rim of the bowl. Ignore the bottom rectangle for now and only present your work as 4 dinner plates and 1 mug. If your design is chosen then we can incorporate the other 3 designs to the mug format. Most important is seeing the plate designs now and getting a feel for the overall set.
