We need a logo design for our new 84 seat restaurant located in North Weymouth, Massachusetts, USA. The restaurant's name is true north KITCHEN + BAR. My husband, Joe, has been in the business for 40 years and our 24 year old son, Ben will be our Chef (Classically trained in Boston in Fine Dining). Food will be delicious but not pretentious. We have a 22 seat concrete color bar. We expect a lively crowd of regulars from the local restaurants we ran over the past 16 years. The decor is Modern Industrial with gray stained ship lap on the walls and bar, Edison type industrial lighting, barstools and chairs are clear coat metal with a colonial blue chair pad (color sounds stodgy but it is very pretty). Flooring throughout is grayish brown wide LVT planks. Floor under barstools is large Alma hexagon mixed tile of gray, onyx and smudges of cobalt. A truck drove through the building 4 weeks ago and we have decided to keep the exposed gray brick on two columns that surround the window.
We would like to stay away from the obvious "North" graphics such as compasses, weather vanes, etc. as the sole graphic. An element of north is fine, just not as the entire graphic. We are looking for something that is welcoming and whimsical. Colors are blues, grays and lighter green tones. We do not like hot colors like reds, oranges and yellows.
Target Market(s)
Families, Couples, Singles. Anyone who likes good food and good drinks (for the over 21) Crowd. We are on a busy road with 32,000 cars a day passing us by going to and from Boston. We want them to stop.

Requirements
Must have
- It must have true north in lower case Veterans Typewriter font
- KITCHEN + BAR in upper case Champagne and Limousines font.
- We prefer the + sign (not the word "and") for Kitchen + Bar
- Must look good on an awning and easy to read.
- Creative and whimsical. We are in the hospitality business
- so we want the Logo to be fun.
- We named our restaurant True North because I gave my husband a 31st Anniversary Card in August that said "You are my True North." Two days later we bought the restaurant in North Weymouth. (The former restaurant was in the space for 37 years. and was called Kelly's Landing. Very run down when we bought it. We have gutted it and are framing the interior now. Front of the Brick Building is being removed next week and Board and Batten will be installed.)
Nice to have
- We would like to have the text in "Veterans Typewriter" font for true north and "Champagne and Limousines" font for KITCHEN + BAR. A complimentary graphic. We will know when we see the design. If we knew what it was already, we would make it ourselves ;)
Should not have
- We do not want an obvious sole graphic of a compass, weather vane or compass rose. An element or indication of north is fine. Our former restaurant was on the water and the compass rose was in the logo design. It was perfect for that space. Our new restaurant is in an Industrial neighborhood near the Fore River Bridge on the way to Boston, MA. We do not want any Hot Colors Red, Yellow or Orange.
