Logo Design Brief

PROJECT UPDATE:

We’re not entirely happy with any of the submissions we’ve received so far, so we’ve now increased the budget, guaranteed payment, extended the deadline and opened the brief up a bit to allow designers to be a bit more creative.

Revised Logo Brief

We are looking at getting a logo designed for a new online start up launching in 2012. The business is called Lendit and will be soon available online at www.lendit.com

The main function/purpose of the website is to provide a marketplace or network within which neighbours and communities can rent goods they own to one another. It is essentially an ‘eBay for renting or lending’. It will allow users to:

• Generate additional income by renting goods they own but aren’t always using;
• Save money by allowing them to borrow rather than buy;
• Be good to the environment by sharing resources rather than consuming resources;
• Build strong ties with members of their local community

In addition to the above, a core focus of the business will be around creating a secure and trustworthy marketplace backed by numerous security systems so that users have piece of mind when renting goods.

Members will be able to rent anything they want (within reason!) but we expect the main items to include Tools, Sporting Equipment, Kitchen Utensils, Garden Furniture, Holiday Items, Spaces & Rooms, Musical or AV Equipment, Books, and much more.

Key themes/concepts that we feel fit with the ethos of the business include:

• Economical/Cost-effective
• Local/Community
• Ecological/Green/Sustainable
• Easy/Simple/Efficient/Convenient
• Trusted/Safe
• Sharing/Collaborative
• Marketplace

We’ve played with using different shades of green for the logo to fit in with the ecological aspects of the venture, but we’re open to suggestions for alternative colours.

We require the full name ‘Lendit’ included in the logo. We have played with ideas of accompanying the text with a picture although we’re open to suggestions. We are also open to using capital and/or lower case lettering.

Highlighting the ‘lend’ and ‘it’ sections with different colours/shades seems to work well., although different methods of differentiation are welcome.

Overall we prefer a slightly thicker typeface, but one that is easy to read. In past logo designs we have preferred those that have used a rounded font. We also prefer simple and to the point, not a logo that is too cluttered and busy.
