Web Design Brief
The Energy Systems Laboratory at the University of Vermont (TESL@UVM) is a research group in Vermont that is working to make electricity cleaner, more reliable and more affordable. We are looking for a web site design (preferably based on Wordpress or a similar content management system) that highlights the following themes:
* Renewable energy: particularly wind and solar
* Electric energy (images of cities at night, for example)
* Distributed energy (e.g., rooftop solar systems on houses)
* Nicola Tesla. We have previously used a version of this image
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Nikola_Tesla,_with_his_equipment_Wellcome_M0014782.jpg
which is in the public domain, in an early draft of our site. This early version of the site is located here:
http://blog.uvm.edu/tesla/
* The University of Vermont. Images that we can use for this site are located here:

We would like the site map to roughly follow the following:
* Home (link should be labeled: TESL@UVM)
The home page should include
some relevant imagery at the top,
a section for blog posts on the left side
a sidebar on the right that includes twitter feeds for @paulhinesuvm and @theenergymads
A placeholder section at the bottom labeled “acknowledgements”
* About. Include only placeholder text here. We can compose the text content
* People. This page should have placeholder boxes for three sets of people
Faculty
Students
Alumni
* Projects. The projects link should go to a dropdown menu list of different projects. These can be labeled Project 1, Project 2, Project 3 for now, and then we can edit the content later.
* Publications. This page should be a list of publications organized in a table with one image to the left of each paper. We can provide the content.
Some research group sites that we like include:
http://www.natesanders.org/
https://ecal.berkeley.edu/
http://eei.rice.edu/
We would also be interested to include a relatively simple team logo that features our abbreviated name (TESL@UVM) and potentially some symbol of energy innovation. E.g., light bulbs, tesla coils, etc.
