Web Design Brief
A web community (called "Jyver") where users post polls that other people then vote on. Most polls are simple two-option polls (users vote either "Right" or "Wrong"), but there can also be polls with up to eight voting options. In addition to voting, users can also express their reaction to polls by deeming them "interesting", "moronic", and/or "funny". Each poll has its own comments section. Comments are threaded (meaning that each comment can be replied to, and so should have a reply link). Users can click to approve/disapprove of comments (e.g, as in perhaps by clicking a thumbs-up and thumbs-down).
The website has a chatbox, which should be visible from every page. However, the chatbox can be opened and closed by user preference, so the design must look in either situation.
In addition to the main site, the website will also have sub-groups, where users can view polls from a more specific community. So the front page must include a prominent link to view the group list.
Users can make their own profiles. Profiles can include a list of personal details (e.g. name, age, sex, location, etc), and a personal blurb that they write. Users can also receive messages on their profiles (which should probably be designed to look similar to poll comments).
The website is currently up and running, but it needs a new design. If you'd like to see the current design, to get an idea of the necessary functionality, visit http://jyver.com However, if you think this will limit your creativity, then don't look at it. Requirements
Must have
- Users must have the ability to log in/out from any page. There must be an indication of how many new messages a user has in his inbox.
When browsing polls, there should be a search box. There must also be a list of various poll groupings, such as "Popular Polls", "Newest Polls", "Funny Polls", etc.
I need a clean design that doesn't require any images, because I intend to code it in such a way that the color scheme can be changed by user preference.
You must submit these elements:
- The front page of the website
- A page containing a list of polls
- A poll comment thread page
- A chatbox that can be opened and closed on each page. (The design must look good with the chatbox opened or closed.)
- The (simple) user profile page
