Making the payment guaranteed will draw higher quality designers giving you a better chance at receiving more quality submissions. Guaranteeing the payment shows that you are serious which means the designers will be more serious as well. If you decide to guarantee the payment please let me know. I would have a few questions before starting.

No worries I understand. FYI though we organise conferences very regularly (we are an IT Conference organisers, specialised for Developers/Programmers). I have so far organised 3 or 4 competitions on Desig Crown and I have always confirmed payment. I NEVER cancelled a project so far. I just want to see the quality of submissions before confirming, but all I need is one good design for me to confirm payment. You should absolutely do what you feel comfortable with, but please be aware that after this competition I'll need to create another one for another upcoming event (YOW! West), so if you are part of our favorite designers you will be invited to participate in all of them. Thank you for taking the time to answer though :)
