Logo Design Brief
This is for a video series profiling people across the state of Alabama reading the work of Walt Whitman, a 19th century American poet called Whitman, Alabama
Here are two national stories on this project: (Note: to avoid confusion this project was formerly called "Walt Alabama Whitman." and "Song of my South". Now it's going to be called Whitman, Alabama.) http://www.niemanlab.org/2015/06/alabama-media-groups-first-artist-in-residence-goes-beyond-text-to-explore-the-culture-of-the-south/

Requirements
Must have
- A sophisticated look
- A clean uncluttered aesthetic
- Earth-tone or similar muted colors
- . Note: I am open to having this say "Welcome to: Whitman, Alabama, est. 2017
Nice to have
- sans serif font
- this should focus on sense of place.
- It should have energy and style -- this is a creative project not a corporate logo
- (if this is successful we'd like to see this be a T-shirt or even better a tattoo!)
Should not have
- A cartoony look
- A formal old fashioned POETRY look of cursive script etc.
- an old homey backwoods southern feel
- loud bright colors
- It's an alabama wide project so we don't want a star or other icon in the middle of the state of alabama that would suggest a certain PLACE in Alabama.
