Web Design Brief

I have a homepage (http://www.women-on-the-road.com) that I'm 50% happy with but don't want to completely overhaul. I'd like to retain a similar look but upgrade it to something a bit more modern and less old-fashioned. The basic sense of the site is empowering, self-confident, fun and adventurous - but female and over 40.

A number of the elements on the page have to be redesigned, a few can be tweaked, and a few left alone. See the rest of the brief for further information.

Requirements
Must have
  • - size - the page must be significantly wider
  • - the only font I MUST keep is Raleway (as in the tagline) and possibly the font of the site name (Women on the Road). Both of those work for me. There are too many fonts on the page, however, and that needs to be unified.
  • - the rectangles I click to get inside the site have to change to something more modern, possibly square - they do not have to be separated into two columns as they are now, nor do they need the titles (toolkit etc)
  • - I like the background image of the header - but it needs to be wider of course - also keep in mind the aspect - it has to fit into the smaller inside pages, whose size will not change
  • - at the end of the project I need to receive the separate elements of the design so I can eventually make a change myself if needed ie. replace my own photo, for example
Nice to have
  • - the three photos need to change to something more eye-popping - or something else should take their place to fill the space
Should not have
  • I do not want a full, original redesign. I want my readers to still feel as though they are on the same site - same header, mostly same fonts.
