Logo Design Brief

We need a logo design for a new company based in the G.T.A Ontario, Canada that sells predominantly reclaimed barn wood (floors and beams) but also transforms vintage items into more modern furniture, design pieces, and artwork. A lot of the re-purposed items combine wood and vintage industrial steel. The majority of the work is custom for example harvest table with steel base or vintage base and barn-door made into a coffee table for a loft condo.

Our company needs a logo that will be used on the soon to be launched website (e-store front), as well as for business cards and in the future for targeted advertising. Our new company would also like to provide opportunities for independent artists or trades people (whose work might appeal to our clients) a spot to showcase their work to a client base who already appreciates quality workmanship of the past yet want a bit of a modern touch too.

So far all the 'rustic chic' searches have resulted in cliche logos or ones that don't work well with the longish title of the company. Would like Rustic Chic Design to be more dominant than the Supply Co. portion of the logo. But also open to Rustic Chic being more dominant than the Design & Supply Co. part if necessary. Earth colours such as copper, gold favoured or black.

Requirements

Must have

• A logo that is not too busy but has the feeling of a bit vintage, a bit worn and more masculine than feminine feel. & symbol rather than and as well as period after co. We do not like the logo options suggested at the bottom of this brief as they all look too modern and generic. We like the boldness of a font like the one the company Design Surplus uses for their logo.

Nice to have

• We like a lot of the stuff on http://www.designsurplus.co/
• Earth tones and a combo of wood and distressed metal in logo or font.
• Something that looks a bit worn or faded.
• We have seen some good wood burning and old stamp designs for other companies that we favoured but they were more for outdoorsy companies or hunting companies.

Should not have

• We aren't too crazy with script, writing type fonts. Don't want the logo to look too modern. The colour wheel in this template didn't offer the colour, tones we liked.
