Book Cover Design Brief
I need an eBook cover.
The book is about changing the way we treat and teach our children. It exposes the truth about our children's unhappiness, and our misguided attempts at helping them, which is only causing more distress.
I map out how schooling the way we do, as well as hierarchical and controlling parenting methods, are not only outdated, they were never meant to bring out the best in our children. Each generation has been paying an ever-higher price for conforming. The current generation is falling apart, being injured by our willingness to medicate them rather than change the way we treat and teach them. But it is not only about medication, or medicated children - so I don't think medication on the cover would be right. An unhappy or frustrated child perhaps. I think that the cover needs to reflect the title, and the current rates of depression, and diagnoses that are the reality of today's childhood. With maybe something that shows a glimmer of hope.
Updates
Project Deadline Extended Reason: My first description and resulting designs made me realize that there weren't reflecting the title, and seemed confusing. I have extended the deadline and tried to identify key points that might better reflect what might be more congruent. I hope so!I have also committed to payment. Added Wednesday, October 12, 2016

Must have
- I will put my additional thought about the front cover in the Nice to Haves section because they are just thoughts and not must haves.
- Some minor wishes for the back cover - in case it makes a difference: I want the back cover to have a small picture of me and I will put a short bio next to it. The bottom half of the back I will probably get some endorsements of the book OR write a summary.
- I assume that I will be able to do these in the final cover - myself or with your help?
- I have included the logo that will be used as my Publishing Co logo. Just fyi.
Nice to have
- Just thinking here.
- A bored, or angry child looking out a classroom window at some nature, perhaps a natural courtyard with an oak tree. On the window sill - along with other typical classroom stuff, a Bonsai tree, like a class experiment. It should not be too noticeable, more subliminal. In the book I do compare the two tree types as an analogy (oak and bonsai). Across the way, maybe an office building with an adult also longingly looking out a window at the courtyard. lol -- is this too much? Maybe I need to have this scene photographed? Is it possible to overlay these things? Otherwise a drawing?
- In the colors I think I like the blues. Maybe part of the cover needs to be in Grayscale as a reflection of the child and adult's mood? Again, just thinking.
