Logo Design Brief
Hello,
I am a hobby knifemaker and I would like to start to mark my knives with an etched logo. I concentrate on Japanese style kitchen knives. My roudh idea of the logo is that it should relate to my name (surname and/or firstname) so I can be identified as a maker of given knife. My full name is: Matúš Kaliský. The logo should be on the simple side and should etch well on steel (and thus only black & white), design wise it shold not try to 'dominaate' the look of the knife. To get an idea on other logos in the same product range have a look at logos of makers that make high end kitchen knives - please see the attachment.

Updates
Hello everyone,
let me first thank you for all your designs - there are indeed a few I like and I am positive that once this project will be over I will have an excellent logo.
I would like to mention the following - quite a few of the designs proposed have my initials in one line and then my full name in second line. This seems a very general and often seen approach for a mark. Also - when my first name together and my surname are put in one line it makes for a logo that would either be too long, or too small to read.
You will be receiving my answers to your designs shortly.
I am looking forward to see further designs and ideas.

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: Hello everyone,
I have decided to extend the deadline by a few days. The main reason for it is to give you (and me) chance to finish iterations and also give those who joined just recently time to work on their designs. I am looking forward to our further collaboration!
Kind Regards
Matus

Requirements
Must have
- - Look good when etched on steel
- - clean, simple design
- - support the 'hand made' feel of the product
- - identify the maker
- - simple clean - should 'fit in' with the product
Nice to have
- This is just an idea and probably a wrong one, but I let you to decide on that: I have a PhD. in nuclear and particle physics and worked in that area for a few years. My knifemaking hobby has nothing to do with that, but Being a physicist reflects on how I design and execute the knives I make. Maybe there would be way to implement that in the logo in some subtle manner?
Should not have
- - colors - you can only etch in silver/black
