Logo Design Brief

We need a logo design for an umbrella company. We create and provide stylish and ergonomic umbrellas to all the drenched souls out there. We work with designers around the world to create unusual and artistic patterns on the canopies, making our umbrellas a work of art as well as a staple of today's wardrobe

We want to convey the fact that we are stepping outside the boundaries. For years, umbrellas were seen as something that is purely functional – like a spoon or a roll of toilet paper. We want to change that and show people that umbrella is an important style piece and many will disagree, but we want to continue challenging status quo.

Target Market(s)

Our target customers are mainly active urban dwellers 25-35 years of age, who are style-conscious. They are people who walk to their offices in the mornings, go to yoga studios after work, and then meet their friends for a drink afterwards. They travel around a lot and sometimes get caught in the rain. They are people who like brands like Lululemon for their active wear, Herschel for their bags and Swell for their water bottles. They buy based on emotion.

Requirements

Must have

• We need a logo that is flat, modern and clean. We like mono lines and kinetic logos. Word marks, combination marks and emblems are preferred. Two colours max, grey, black, navy, or white can work well, but if you feel you got something special, feel free to submit other colors as well. Remember, we are creating a cool and interesting brand of accessories, not a software company or a law firm, so don't submit logos that look like that. IMPORTANT: The logo will be used as a tag on a physical product, so keep that in mind when developing your submission. If you're doing a mockup, I'd prefer you did a mockup of a product label and not an office wall/business card/letterhead etc. PLEASE SUBMIT ONE DESIGN ONLY, we don't have the time to go over 10 identical submissions.

Nice to have

• Be subtle and consistent with your effort. Look at the logos that we like and work from there.

Should not have

• READ THIS BEFORE SUBMITTING: I don't want pictures of umbrellas or halos anywhere. Writing shouldn't be blocky. Shouldn't imitate big brands too closely. Avoid random symbols like price tags, flowers, etc. DO NOT imitate inspiration logos too closely, use them as a source of ideas, not as a template.
