Historical romance set in 1918. Main character is a woman coping with father's illness and subsequent death as well as a brother who comes home on leave and, suffering from shell shock, fails to go back. She is forced to hide him from the authorities and is blackmailed by a neighbour..
Amidst all this, she falls in love with a doctor colleague of her brother's.

• Main character is handsome rather than beautiful. Brown hair (long and pinned up) and eyes. Well-defined cheekbones and jawline. She is 23. Appropriate fashion and hairstyles of the day.
• The hero is a doctor. Good-looking. Aged 28. Works in Charing Cross Hospital caring for wounded servicemen.
• Brother, aged 26, in British army uniform.

Nice to have

• Background of an upmarket residential London Square, with pillared doorways and leafy central garden.. Father's passion is his 1912 Morris Oxford.
• Black Labrador dog.

Should not have

• No embraces!
• Please, no glamorous fashion clothes and heavy make-up. My character has no occasion to wear them.
