Logo Design Brief

We are establishing an equestrian polo club in the beautiful alpine resort of Queenstown, New Zealand. Think Aspen, Vale, St Moritz, etc. :-)
Currently there is a large equestrian community but no polo in the area so we are launching the sport and taking a chance!
I believe we may be the southern-most polo club in the world...
We have a great mix of local and international residents nearby, and are the most popular tourist destination in the country.
We are a relatively young couple with two kids and the club is new so we feel a fairly modern design may work best. Certainly not old stuffy coats of arms!
Main elements for consideration/inclusion are: horses, mountains, polo mallets, polo balls, speed, and contact. Something a little abstract where you have to look twice and it has a hidden meaning could be quite cool!
We want it proportioned so we can have great logo presence on presentation stage logo boards and newspaper article write ups.
We need to apply it on shirts, sign boards, horse blankets, caps, horse trucks, picnic rugs - even the field on which we play - so numerous different sized applications.
