Logo Design Brief

We are looking for a logo for a non-denominational Christian Church. We have had a traditional logo that is rather dated and we are looking to change it up. We are looking for a logo that is clean and that can be recognized at a glance. Our current logo "attached" is what we are going away from. We are simplifying from Calvary Chapel Salt Lake to "The Chapel" and looking for a creative new look to brand us.
We do not want anything that resembles our old logo! As a church our first goal is "It's All About Jesus" We are reaching out to the un-churched, the non-religious and those who are just looking for a new church. We wouldn't mind a cross being incorporated into the logo, however; it is by no means necessary. We are looking for a simple, easy to read and quickly identifiable logo. As stated above we are looking to rebrand as "The Chapel" and looking for that fresh new look. We are leaning toward the Worldmark style of logo with a Hand Letter look but we are open to anything. The logo color is also open but we do like the brushed aluminum and stainless steel looks.
For the most part, just keep it clean, the less busy the better.
