Logo Design Brief

We need a logo design for a new online coffee venture.

The speciality coffee industry is growing around the world, leading not only to a change in the way consumers drink coffee, but also the way coffee is sourced, roasted and delivered to end users. Coffee Rising is a new business venture aimed at changing the way people drink coffee at home. We offer quality, freshly roasted speciality coffee from the best roasters around the world at affordable prices as you like it.

We would like a logo which encapsulates all of these elements- something that's coffee focused but also something which communicates the change we're looking to forefront. It also needs to be functional in that it will often need to fit on relatively small packaging, labels, etc. Our website background is predominantly white and it needs to work with that. Any sort of revolutionary feel would also be appreciated and symbols like stars, clenched fist holding a coffee cup, etc would be welcomed (although not necessary by any means!).

Target Market(s)

The ideal customer for Coffee Rising is willing to spend a little extra money to get quality, fresh produce. He or she will already brew coffee using a cafetiere or a filter machine and knows it tastes better than instant. They like to try different coffees from different roasters and would be willing to try fresh coffee given the option.

The ideal customer is an online purchaser and is likely to be a user of sites like Amazon, eBay, Hello Fresh, Farmdrop, etc and is happy to have shopping delivered to their home for the convenience aspect.

The ideal customer is also socially conscious and would be willing to pay a little extra if they were confident the product they were purchasing was sourced ethically and allowed those at origin to have a higher standard of living and the ability to re-invest in their product.

Nice to have

• I'd like something which conveys revolution. Our mantra is to change the way users drink coffee at home and that requires a shift from stale, commodity coffee in a jar purchased in a supermarket to fresh, ethically sourced coffee from world class roasters delivered direct to your door whenever you need it.
• I'd also love something which has a slight Mexican/Cuban feel to the design in terms of the fonts, etc.
