Logo Design Brief
To get some flavor of what I'm after, see. www.potomac-airfield.com
Potomac Airfield is a small, privately-owned public access, general aviation airport, with the feel of a civilized yet informal country club, which happens to be the closest to downtown Washington DC.
That also means that most of our pilots/members/tenants have day jobs in the military, policy, etc one would associate with downtown Washington DC.
The runway is so small and short I have put aircraft carrier markings on it. We can only accommodate small single-engine, light twin-engine, piston aircraft, and helicopters.
Because of proximity to Washington DC, all Potomac pilots already have, or get security clearances of various sorts.
We are SO close that Potomac is actually deep-INSIDE the most restricted airspace in the world, called the "Flight Restricted Zone," or "FRZ."
Informal, comfortable, and playful, Potomac pilots all have a sense of humor, pre-requisite to get along with myself, it's admittedly eccentric owner. See website.
I play on the national security aspects. One motto, "Who says national security cant be fun?"
I also hand out bumper stickers that say "I fly at Potomac Airfield. No guts, no glory"
I also describe the Potomac as "Conveniently located between Andrews Air Force Base and the White House, just a stone's throw from the nation's capital"
Brought to you by DHS, US Secret Service, DIA, CIA, NSA and more....
I am looking for a logo that captures general aviation, small aircraft, poking fun at the 'Bond' aspects, military air defense, simple, memorable, yet inviting and playful, but mature.... Our pilots are predominantly male, many military, (just a fact), plus some women (fem fighter pilots and more), and typically 30 - 60 years old.
Many have day jobs at various national security, intelligence, military, white house, ...and other such places.
I am making the contest as long as possible to encourage people to think, have some fun, and come up with some ideas.
Potomac also has three flight schools, so we want to be welcoming as well to new pilots wanting to join the fun.
The images that come to mind are biplanes, fighter jets, surface to air defenses ringing the airport, and US Coast Guard helicopters hovering nearby, with US Secret Service agents in every corner.
Interesting, yes?
