Invitation Design Brief

Portage Alliance Church excels at helping the spiritually curious find answers to life's big questions. From Sept 15-Oct 27 our Sunday morning service will be focusing on the Seven Deadly Sins. Our approach is that the "sin" is the result of a God given urge being channeled in the wrong direction. The solution for "sin" then, is not repression but a re-channeling of the urge in a more profitable direction. Example: Beneath the sin of pride is the God given urge for power. Nothing wrong with the desire for power, but it needs to be channeled in the direction of empowering others or it becomes pride. For each sin, there is a corresponding energy and an appropriate channelling. The final design should be initially eye catching and stoke curiosity enough that someone who has never been to church decides to attend.

  Must mention PACKidsRock as a safe program for children.
  (our program for children birth to grade 6 which runs during the Sunday service in a different part of the building. All volunteers trained and criminal record checked)

Nice to have

• A positive spin! Weird when we are talking about sin, but that is where the curiosity might come in. The message is ultimately positive. That we don't have to repress our urges and become less than human; we can re - channel them and become a new kind of human.
