The name W1 is left over from a previous chapter of the company''s history in which the company produced a whole range of events that started with "W", and under the direction of "1" person, the principle. The "W" events were all World Championship events: World Snowboarding Championship, World Ski & Snowboard Festival, World Skiing Invitational, World Snowboarding Invitational, World Cup Skiing, World Cup Snowboarding......

W1, however, has moved away from producing international sports events, and is now producing events in the visual arts arena. 

That''s the history.

But the company is off in a new direction now, so I''m less interested in drawing a connection to its past, and more interested in looking forward.....

About colors, I don''t have a particular set of colors in mind, but generally I like strong contrast: a vibrant colour next to a strong colour. My original logo was red and white on black so it really stood out and had impact. In the current designs posted, I like the vibrancy and contrast of #18090 with the green and white on brown. I generally stay away from oranges and yellows. I suppose if the design is great we can always tweak the colors. I''m open minded......
