Troubadour is a travel agency owned by and for (but not exclusively) musicians. I want to interweave the two worlds of travel and music in a way that is easily recognizable and not overly complicated and communicates relaxation and peace. I'd like to use blue and possibly green and gray in the design, although I'm open to all suggestions. I have a design in mind, but I am concerned about infringing on any possible copyrights that may exist, and I would like to see it somewhat simplified. I'm sending two examples, one featuring a violin, the other a guitar - my preferred option. What I like about the violin example is the use of the background mountains and waterline for the neck of the instrument and small island for the scroll area. The guitar is attractive because of the transparency of the trees to allow the moon to act as tone hole, but I'm not so crazy about the fussiness of the design in either the trees themselves or the grass/dock area for the neck and headstock. I would also like to see a bit more exaggeration (so as to make the water part obvious, even from a line drawing) in the water reflection portion of the design while maintaining the overall integrity of the guitar silhouette. I don't necessarily want text in the logo, I can add that as I see fit; the design is my primary goal. Sorry to be so specific, and I am not married to the submissions I'm sending, but this is an idea that resonated with me so I want to pursue it along with any that you come up with as well. I want to make sure we're creating a design that is unique enough to be worthy of it's own copyright, simple enough to apply to a number of products (cards, flyers, Tshirts), and resonate a perfect musician's getaway. I've added some pictures to the 360 Bridge (aka Pennybacker bridge) that is an iconic landmark in my hometown of Austin, TX. It definitely has guitar inspired lines to it, and for a town that is as crazy about music as Austin (We're referred to as the live music capital of the world - and it's true!) it might be a good point of departure for you.
Updates
Thank you to everyone who participated in the design of my logo! I am amazed at your creativity and thoughtfulness in the design process. There were so many variations that it was a challenge to select only one design because each had their own sense of style and identity. In the end, I chose the one that kept drawing me in and had me imagining the possibilities of traveling. Best regards to all of you and I hope 2016 is your best year yet!
