Illustration Design Brief
We are launching an online Christian prayer grotto to promote unity and peace for Christians and with friends of other faiths. A main feature of the website is our virtual grotto where people can light candles for intentions.
We've hit a snag in the design because no art we can find and try looks good in the banner. It is not a logo. And we have website designers already doing work that is good. We just need the illustration for the banner.
IMAGINE: An ancient grotto tucked into the woods, a peaceful place where people must walk far from the busy world.
ATTACHED "IMAGES SUGGESTED" can help for detail but here is description.
The SIGN is barn wood, old wood, very weathered, and gray tones mostly. It can have paint sloshed on it. I'd like nails and a lot of grain to show, very weathered and many shades of gray, from very light almost white to charcoal. The site has all those colors.
HUES for the grays? See the attached for the red/yellow candles of the final site. We are using jewel colors of gold, bronze, red and for print DARK CHARCOAL GRAY.
The main words are Grotto Greetings. Font should be vintage too. Goudy Old Style is a good one, but use your judgment. Font must be WITH SERIF.
To the left of "Grotto Greetings" on the sign is a SMALL discreet Cross burned into the wood too ... it has two layers, a back layer that is dark etched into the wood. It has a forward layer that might be metal, bronze. Ideally it would be two nails forming a cross. The nails would look like the big nails used in railroad ties.
To the right of the "Grotto Greetings" on the sign is an almost hard to see etching of a rose, or just a shadow of a rose.
The art needs to communicate place, grotto, old, peace, quite, ancient, weathered and gentle.
Attached are:
TWO images of the Grotto Greetings sign on the website in place with comments. You'll see how the Cross works.
ONE image of the rose.
IGNORE ANY COMMENTS In these images about STONE behind the sign. I changed my mind. I just need a sign like you see to put in place.
