Logo Design Brief
We didn’t set out to create a furniture company. In fact, we started as a soap company. But over time, we found ourselves drawn to creating works of art and functional pieces of furniture from used building materials and discarded furniture, rather than boiling-up soap “Fight Club” style in the kitchen. Our pieces range from whimsical hand painted barn board signs, to reupholstered, refinished, and chalk painted furniture and up-cycled decorative creations. We do custom work as well as pieces for retail sales.
We need an AWESOME logo that will be used for promotional material as well as to brand wooden furniture.
Target Market(s)
Hipster 20-40-somethings looking for vintage furniture that has been upcycled; shabby chick inspired housewives who spend their days decorating their houses; anyone who needs furniture fixed/refinished.

Requirements
Must have
- I like old-timey traditional designs, serif fonts, green, brown and black.
- Our (the owners) names are Samantha and Matthew, so something with prominent "S & M" might be cool.
- Matt likes the idea of possibly having a paintbrush and a hammer in the design somewhere.
- Please have a look at our website to get an idea of our style. secondmilled.com
- Attached are some examples of logos that I like.
Nice to have
- I envision the logo possibly being circular (similar to an old postage stamp) with "Re-imagined by" curved around the top, "Second Milled" prominently across the middle, and "Furniture Co." curved around the bottom.
- I am also open to having our tag line "reclaimed wood ~ up-cycled decor ~ chalk painted furniture" incorporated (probably underneath) the logo.
Should not have
- cutesy, modern, colourful images
- no blue, pink, red, purple
