Hi Elizabeth,

The logo will be used not just for stationary and website, but will also be printed on merchandise. Therefore a simple single or dual colour scheme would work best. We should be able to flip the design to print on a darker or lighter background, so black on white or white on black will work well, or two light colours / two dark colours will also work.
