T-shirt Design Brief

Every year there is a 20-person relay race that is 120 miles long that starts in the small town of Baker California and the finish line is in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 20 person team runs through the mountains and desert passing a baton to the next runner at the end of each section of the race. The race participants are law enforcement personnel from several States in the US and some international teams. Only law enforcement agencies can register and compete in this event.

I am a member of the team representing the Los Angeles County Probation Department. This is our team's 21st year competing in the race and the goal is to be competitive amongst the other agencies and have some fun. Last year we finished 40th over all out of 262 teams, and 3rd place in our Division out of 27 teams (Mixed Division requires a minimum of 5 female runners and everyone being a sworn peace officer, in our case, all Probation Officers). We finished the 120 mile race in 15 hours and 42 minutes.

Each year we produce a t-shirt that is used as a fundraiser for the team. For the last 15 years, one of our team members wife produced the design, but she now says she is out of ideas. After using Design Crowd for my personal business logo, I thought we should try something new.

We are looking for something that will stand out on a light (probably grey) tee shirt that is vibrant and exciting. Something that depicts the Department, Las Vegas and the race. We would like for there to be no more than 4 colors. The design will be used as a logo for all written and electronically transmitted information, but most importantly as the back of a tee shirt we will be selling to our colleagues in the Probation Department and outside supporters.

I have attached a copy of last year's design as a reference, however, we would like something more creative. Also, attached is a copy of a graphic of our badge (please do not redistribute outside the designers). This can be incorporated, but it will be on the front of the shirt and too many badges is not a good thing.

Must have

• Something depicting a running relay race and Las Vegas.
• Nice color that draws the eye and make people want to buy them.

Should not have

• Big badge as the primary part of the design. Officers often state that they don't but that type of shirt since they believe they cannot wear them in the community since it appears to be a large target for unsavory people.
