Logo Design Brief
Hi,
I’m looking for a logo for a board game that I created.
This is a chess-like strategy game that can be played by 3 or 2 players. Called “Curulis Quest”, this game is strongly inspired by the roman history and in particular by the triumvirate settled by Caesar, Pompee and Crassus.
This particularly accomplished game asks for reflection and strategy and thus is mainly targeted to a serious public (however, notice that we do not target the game to the chess player: everyone can play to “Curulis Quest”!). This is reflected by the general design of the game: wooden board, wooden pawns carved by hand, fabric cover, etc.
We are looking for a logo that takes all these elements into account as well as these elements:
Form:
-The logo must have a "Ancient Rome" aesthetic: try to avoid kitsch by all means but don’t overdo the modern side either.
-The drawing can include a curulis chair and an eagle (as shown in the examples supplied) BUT don’t let this idea restrain your creativity.
-The drawing must be able to be stylized, as it may be embroidered on the game fabric cover.
-The logo must integrate the name of the game “Curulis Quest”. The font choice is up to you, but it must evoke the Ancient Rome (see http://francais.istockphoto.com/photo-18162521-ecriture-latine-texte-sculpture-style-romain-pierre.php)
-The logo can be open or closed (cf the laurel wreath in the examples supplied). We don’t know what’s better.
-The triangle theme (it was first a game for 3 players) is not compulsory as there is also a version for 2 players.
Mood, feelings evoked by the logo:
-“luxe”, nobility of chess games.
-Nobility of the materials (wooden pawns carved by hand, etc) … expensive?
-Serious (it is not your average fast-played, plastic game), reflection, strategy
-If possible, integrate a young “twist” so it may appeal to a young public too.
Thanks to all of you!

Nice to have
- A little bit of red (like burgundy) and gold color to remind the curulis chair's color on the chessboard.
- -The logo can be open or closed (cf the laurel wreath in the examples supplied). We don’t know what’s better.
- -The triangle theme (it was first a game for 3 players) is not compulsory as there is also a version for 2 players.
- - Finally, a burgundy-red background (for the fabric cover) seems to be a must!
- Think to mix gold and silver colors for the logo! I feel it better!
Should not have
- I really don't know! Let work your creativity to impress and convince me.
