I am developing a small t-shirt business that promotes black history and civil rights issues. Black history will focus from the standpoint of world history while civil rights will focus on civil rights issues in America. These t-shirts will eventually be sold online and targeted to churches and organizations. The t-shirts need to be educational and evoke an emotion. The emotional reaction can range from shock, sadness, pride, anger/frustration, celebration, confusion, inequity, unfairness, despair, etc.
This Civil Rights T-Shirt Design will focus on Inequity.
The same design concept will be used for both front and back of the t-shirt (ONE DESIGN ONLY) but variations for each of the sides.
The main symbol of front and back is the people (please see description below, under numbers 1 and 2).
1. Back of T-Shirt – I’m including an image example for your reference (Picket Signs) but I do not want an identical image/copy of it. The image needs to show a crowd of people. The people in front of the crowd (the people viewing the t-shirt see) need to be holding picket signs with various sayings and their faces need to be more defined (not unfocused as the example provided looks). One of the individuals in front also needs to be holding a US Flag (the Flag needs to be in color). The other members of the crowd behind those people can be less defined. Below this image the phrase “ PEOPLE TAKE YOUR PLACE !! “ needs to be stated. I would like the people in the image to be a mixture of ethnically diverse men, women and children from young to old. Three picket signs are being held by three people in the front row. Each picket sign needs to state one of the following statements: “Voter Suppression”, “Economic Castration” and “Separate But Unequal Education”. The image needs to be large enough to stand out and be seen.
2. Front of T-Shirt – The image on the front of the t-shirt will include a crowd of African Americans including men, women and children from young to old. Those in front of the crowd (the people viewing the t-shirt see) should be large enough and clear enough to make out and their faces need to be more defined (not unfocused as the example provided looks). Their expressions need to evoke inequity and despair. The people further back in the crowd can be less defined African Americans. Above this crowd there needs to be a black umbrella and the raindrops that are dripping from the umbrella need to be red, white and blue dripping away like raindrops (in reference to the US Flag). Under that image the following statement needs to be included: “ OUR FREEDOMS, LIBERTIES AND RIGHTS ARE DRIPPING AWAY !! “ This phrase needs to be bolded, underlined and capitalized. I’m including an image example for your reference (Umbrella Image) but I do not want an identical image of it. The US Constitution needs to be in the background of this image. The image of the US Constitution needs to be broken into pieces. The opening statement to the US Constitution “We the People” needs to be visible near the top of the image. I’m including an image of a broken US Constitution for you to use as a reference. The image needs to be large enough to stand out and be seen.
The first t-shirt design I am requesting will focus on Civil Rights. Depending on my experience with Design Crowd I may request additional t-shirt designs in the future.
