We need a logo for a food cooperative grocery store called the Westwood Food Cooperative. Westwood is a historically marginalized neighborhood in southwest Denver - the average lifespan is 12 years less than any other Denver neighborhood.
Despite the challenges the neighborhood faces, it also has big opportunities. With the help of a nonprofit organization called Re:Vision, over 400 families in the community have come together to begin growing food in their own backyards. The Westwood Food Cooperative is a grocery store that was started by residents of the neighborhood. Most of the residents of this community are immigrants from Mexico, Africa, and Asia. Although the store needs to cater to their needs first and foremost, we also want it to be a destination for all Denver residents who are seeking the best local food, and authentic prepared ethnic foods.
It will feature fresh, healthy food that is grown by the community, as well as food from local farmers. Although the food will be local and healthy, the WFC is not trying to be another 'yuppie' food co-op. It aims to remain authentic to the community - over 80% Hispanic - as well as represent the working-class families that have come together to start this store.
The final design should emphasize authenticity, it should be vibrant, and it should communicate community ownership (see brand brief). If possible, the design should incorporate some elements of Re:Vision's logo (attached).
