Poster Design Brief
Poster design should look like a Hollywood classic (see attachments) although bold variations within that type of design are also welcome. Elegantly appealing as a whole... but maybe a little disturbing when you really see it through. Am I making any sense?
Let me tell you about the movie and we´ll get to that later...
The movie is titled "Never knew how to quit you" and it is about this handsome guy, Yann, a likable womanizer who suffers and make suffer a lot throughout the movie. His sonofabitch batterer father kills his sister and mother with a hammer (nice graphic motive) at the beginning. Yann kind of gets over it with the help of his best friend, a young lesbian girl named Marga, and her psychiatrist mother, Lucía, who claims to be battered by her husband so she can feel free to eventually have sex... with Yann! To make a long story short, there are like 6 main characters around Yann. They all think they love someone and end up suffering, making suffer or both. At the end, Yann shows himself as a twisted-psycho beast. He´s been videotaping every girl he´s had sex with while hurtfully following his father´s steps to become another batterer. Full of hate against women he finally kills himself and Lucía. A twisted Hollywood happy ending. I know.
So all this bore just to help you understand that the desired movie poster should try to trick as the movie does. It should look like a romantic classic feature but also give a hint of tragedy... The plot is bloody but the theme is definitely not. I attach one pdf file for Hollywood references and another for "inspiration" in case I have left you in the mud with all this explanation (instead of clearing things up)
I obviously attach some frames grabbed from the movie. They´re not big enough (resolution-wise) to be used directly in the poster. Hence the necessary painting. Files are named after characters and actions except for some important objects/motives in the movie (hammer, video-camera, cliffs...)
Important Warning: Frames are confidential and should never be shared with anyone. I beg you not to spoil my movie! Really. Please.
Lastly, the poster design may preferably have some space free for credits. Winner should be able to deliver a big Hi-Res printing format file. And if main title is not text-editable, it will be also required a second file of the poster with the title in Spanish ("No te supe perder")
Thanks in advance and good luck.
Updates
Hey designers! I´ve just uploaded more visual references (File: "More references.pdf") in case you need more inspiration.I know illustrations are hard work so feel free to send/upload first a draft. That way I could confirm if I like it enough for you to keep on. Just make sure you clarify it´s a draft when you upload it. Otherwise I´ll believe it´s the finished version and probably be dissapointed and won´t answer. In the other hand, if you already have a design in mind but you feel you requiere some image "missing" (a landscape, establishing shot, extremely close-up, object...), let me know and I´ll try to find something suitable for you within the movie.Good luck! Requirements
Must have
- Classic Hollywood feeling (read description and check file "Hollywood design.pdf")
- It should be a illustration or painting (using any technique) instead of a photo composition. Frames attached are not big enough (resolution-wise) anyway.
- Winner should be able to deliver a big Hi-Res printing format file. And if main title is not text-editable, it will be also required a second file of the poster with the title in Spanish ("No te supe perder")
Nice to have
- Poster design may preferably have some space free for credits.
- I like the ink-frame-shaping technique but I´d rather not limit the designers´ creative options.
Should not have
- I don´t want to see too much blood (if any) Let´s suggest instead of showing, please.
- I´m not asking for a photo-composition but for a real painting/illustration! (see examples in "Hollywood design.pdf")
