Logo Design Brief
Logo Requirements:
The logo design needs to relate back to the depot's heritage, but also be modern and go well with a new responsive website. The depot will primarily be used for offices and storage etc..
The Royal Ordnance Depot, is a privately owned business site, and the warehouses/units are being let out to individuals and businesses. The spaces available are all different styles and sizes; some could be used for office space, whilst others are more suited to storage and artisan workshops.
History of the depot:
The famous Grand Union Canal passes through the grounds, which runs from the River Thames and also off to Birmingham. Weeden Depot dates back to the Napoleonic War, which began in 1803, however, the depot was built the year before and was used by the military from 1802. Weedon Depot is situated near the centre of the county and was used to store small arms and ammunition ensuring the country was prepared should there be an invasion by Napoleon. The depot was built inland to help protect coastal villages and towns. It was built alongside the canal as well as being acessible by road, ensuring troops were still able to supply to more exposed coastline locations. A railway was built with a branch going into the depot towards the end of the century. During the Napoleonic invasion, pavilions were built to house the Royal family in case they were sent here for safety.
