Logo Design Brief
Sunshine Coast based Thicker than Water are a band comprised of multi-instrumentalists John Fredericks (drum, vox, horns, guit, keys), Michael Cheetham (vox, guit, bass), Rufus Lane (bass, vox, guit) and Ben Lockens (guit, drums, vox, keys, didjeridoo).
This bunch of urban refugees have conveniently ended up neighbours in the lush forest environs of Starlight Community in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. The band’s name is a nod to the tribal bonds shared by its members, and to the fluid hypnotic rhythms of the surfer/musician lifestyle.
The nurturing tranquility of the forest and the ancient embrace of the ocean have marinated their sounds inspired from original revolutionary spirits, ranging from Bob Marley to Rage Against The Machine.
The band harness this inspiration, percolating a subtropical blend of groove based riffs and hooks underpinned with pop sensibilities and laced with vocal harmonies. Roots music is their vehicle and the band delivers a political, humorous, ironic, honest and above all, danceable live set.
TTW thrive on being part of a moving crowd and enjoy the co-created, healing expression that comes when people allow music to transform and uplift them.
We would like an earthy logo that perhaps has a water / tree theme involved. We all love surfing.
