Logo Design Brief

We are a new tour operator setting up in Quito, Ecuador. The team consists of one U.K and two U.S. citizens. Between us we have around twelve years experience living and working in Ecuador.

The new company, Ishpingo Tours Cia Ltda., is being positioned to take advantage of the enormous changes that have been taking place in Ecuador over the last five years - particularly in the areas of travel and tourism.

The company is specifically aiming to target the more mature, better-off end of the LGBT market. Along side tailor-made tours in exclusive locations for independent travellers, we will also be offering special events for gay travellers on specific set dates.

We are partnering, in the main, with high-end hotels, lodges and Galapagos boats and will be covering the four main regions of Ecuador: Andes, Amazon, Galapagos and Coast. Sales will be driven principally through our website (under construction) and social media. The website is being designed to have maximum visual impact whilst making the various destinations the 'heroes'.

Our logo design needs to impart those high-end qualities and the fact that nothing will be too much trouble for us to ensure our guests get the most from their visit to Ecuador. The name 'Ishpingo' is Quechua for cinnamon, which is endemic to the Amazon. We would like to see limited use of the 'rainbow' colours because this has particular significance to the indigenous peoples of the Andes and they are used also in the Ministry of Tourism's 'Love Life, Love Ecuador' logo as well, of course, as having significance to the LGBT community.

The final design should be clean, elegant and simple whilst communicating our values of quality, confidence, comfort and adventure.

Thank you for the submissions received to-date.  We have just uploaded a further document to give more of an idea of the sort of 'feel' that we are looking for.  


Please also take a look at images of Inca iconography (Google will find plenty of examples), which is usually very stylistic in its execution.  Also images of Ecuador - a hummingbird for example, which could evolve into a very fluid, stylised image.

The logo element needs to stand as a monochrome image as well as colour.  It should also be able to be used in isolation and in social media sites such as Facebook.
